FAQs

What are group sessions like?

Group sessions are small, friendly and relaxed. Children learn together through practical activities, games and guided tasks, with no pressure to perform. Shy or hesitant children are supported to join in at their own pace, while all children are gently encouraged to stretch themselves and build confidence. There is plenty of support and encouragement, and I make sure every child feels comfortable and involved.

How many children are in each group?

Groups are kept small, with a maximum of five children. This means everyone feels included and has the chance to contribute without feeling overwhelmed.

Will my child still get individual attention?

Absolutely. Even in a group setting, I tailor tasks to each child’s level and make sure they are learning at the right pace for them. Small groups allow me to check in with each child regularly and give them the support they need. After years of teaching classes of over 30, working with five children feels like a luxury and gives me the chance to give each child proper attention.

What are the benefits of group sessions?

Many children thrive when learning with others. They enjoy sharing ideas, practising skills together and realising they are not the only ones who find things tricky sometimes. Group sessions can help build confidence, communication skills and a more positive attitude towards learning.

Where do lessons take place?

Sessions take place in my dedicated teaching room at home. It is a calm, bright space designed to help children feel settled and ready to learn.

How do I know if group sessions are right for my child?

If your child enjoys learning with others, or would benefit from a confidence boost in a supportive setting, group tuition can be a lovely option. If you are unsure, I am always happy to talk through your child’s needs. You can book a free 15-minute call to chat it over.

How long are the sessions?

Each session lasts 50 minutes, giving us time for focussed teaching, practice and a quick confidence-boosting activity at the end.

Do you offer homework?

Yes. I send a short task linked to the session, which is completely optional. I know family life can be busy and many children already have homework from school, so there is no pressure to complete it.

How much does it cost and how do payments work?

Group sessions are £20 per child, paid monthly in advance to secure your child’s place in the group.

Do you offer 1-1 tuition?

At the moment, my one-to-one slots are fully booked. I am focusing on small group tuition, which many children find just as effective and often more motivating.

What happens if my child misses a session?

Sessions are non-refundable, as your child’s place is reserved for the month. If they do miss a session, I will send a short task or summary so they can keep up with the group.

Can my child try a session before committing?

Yes. Your child is welcome to try one session to see how they feel in the group and whether it is the right fit for them.

Is group tuition suitable for anxious or shy children?

Yes. Many anxious or hesitant children do very well in small groups. Sessions are calm and supportive, with no pressure to speak or perform. Children are encouraged to join in at their own pace and often gain confidence from seeing others learning alongside them.

I keep groups small and carefully structured so children feel safe, supported and successful.
